“Cruel Mother sent a chill up the spine”
“Cruel Mother was vividly doom-laden in mood and musically ingenious”
Sarah’s compositional journey began out of necessity, writing arrangements for Juice Vocal Ensemble. As her performance career has developed however, so has her creative voice and she has been commissioned to write music for Opera projects (Gestalt Arts) and Theatre (The National Theatre & Orange Tree Theatre) and had her music performed at the Tête à Tête Opera Festival, the London Contemporary Church Music Festival, the Wigmore Hall and on BBC Radio 3 Breakfast and Hear and Now. Nearly all of her arrangements for Juice have feature on their albums with Nonclassical and Resonus Classics.
Her entry in the Cappella Nova Composers’ Competition of 2018 was ‘Highly Commended’. Three of her Juice arrangements/pieces (Cruel Mother/Cruel Sister/Cruel Brother) are published by UYMP in their ‘Songspin Songbook’.
Current projects include re-composing ‘Cruel Mother’ for the UK’s top Viol Consort, Fretwork and a new choral work (‘Love Letter’) is being published by OUP in January 2021.
